About

I currently serve as the NExpress Coordinator and Resource Sharing Librarian in Lawrence, KS for the Northeast Kansas Regional Library System, which supports public, school, and academic libraries and librarians in a 14-county region.

I focus on supporting Koha software (an open source integrated library system), systems librarianship, cataloging, data management, resource sharing/interlibrary loan, continuing education, and collection development (focused on the library profession).

With lifelong passions for learning and sharing, I’ve presented at numerous regional, state, and national workshops and conferences on a wide variety of topics including innovation, social media, open source software, lifelong learning, online security, information overload, and open education resources.

I am a rural Kansas native, a 2001 graduate of Holton High School, a 2005 graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with a B.A. in political science (summa cum laude), and a 2008 graduate of Emporia State University, with a Master’s in Library Science.

In 2014, I was selected as an outstanding recent graduate at Emporia State University’s School of Library Information & Management, and I was also the 2010 Kansas Library Association New Professional of the Year. In 2016, I was selected to attend the Mountain Plains Library Association Leadership Institute.

I’m active on Twitter and love KU Jayhawks basketball and my two cats, White Sox and Storm.

  1. Cheers to you! I graduated in 2010 from University of Kansas…I live in Chicago now, but I still miss the beautiful open skies in KS, along with the storms you get to see rolling across the hills 🙂
